Losinj
Beaches

Warsaw, Poland
Losinj is an island of the Kvarner archipelago
in the northern part of the Adriatic. The island
is known for mild climate, beautiful landscapes
and a community of approximately 150 dolphins living
in the sea around the island. The most known places
of the island are towns of Mali Losinj, Veli Losinj
and Rovenska. Due to good bus and ferry links Losinj
can be a starting point to visit nearby islands
of Cres, Susak, Unije, Ilovik and Rab.
Mali Losinj is the biggest settlement of the island.
This is a lively, tourist town but its uninhabited
surroundings are a true paradise for those who prefer
to be alone and who love quietness and contact with
nature.
The most known hotels in Mali Losinj are located
in two big bays of Cikat and Suncana Uvala.
The Cikat bay does not seem to be a perfect place
for naturists
unless you are very brave…. Just too many people
walk by a sea promenade. The nearest and most popular
nude beach is situated in the Suncana Uvala, close
to the Borik restaurant. This is an official naturist
beach with an admission fee of 6 kunas (EUR 1 is
approximately KN 7). The area is partly enclosed
with fence, there is a snack bar, showers and beach
equipment can be rented. As I saw some people try
to avoid to pay admission fee, they just go by a
footpath to the end of the barriers…..
Suncana Uvala is a typical Croatian rocky beach.
Unfortunately it can be crowded because of the vicinity
of two big hotels (Aurora and Vespera).
We do not like places like this so after few hours
we decided to move further on… The island of Losinj
has a very well marked network of tourist footpaths
leading through makia and pine forests to many hidden
coves that are just ideal for naturists. Detailed
map of trails is available at free at local tourist
offices.
One
kilometer away from the Suncana we have discovered
a lovely, wonderful beach of Cuanguski with
real golden sand (!!). This bay is very small, just
for a dozen of people and is suitable for families
with children. This is not official FKK beach but
when we visited this place, everybody was nude.
There is a small rural konoba nearby, so you can
drink some beer or take a meal.
During our stay in Mali Losinj we have also found
other coves in southern part of the island. All
these beaches can be reached by easy footpaths leading
along the shores or descending from road on the
Sv. Ivan Mount. We recommend you to visit bays of
Krivica and Plieski. The Krivica bay is very
picturesque when you approach this from the mount
of Sv. Ivan and gives a safe shelter for yachts.
Plieski is a wonderful place with rocky shore and
sandy sea bottom. Other coves like Vinikova or
Sv. Gaudient can also be used by naturists.
