Sunj
beach on the island of Lopud, near Dubrovnik
by Reine
Simonsson from Sweden
Every morning in the high season
at 8.30 M/S Postira leaves from the new harbour
of Gruz in Dubrovnik for the Elafiti Islands. Check
with Jadrolinja for exact time table! After a nice
trip of about an hour the ship makes a short stop
in Kolocep before continuing to the island Lopud.
To find the beach, you just follow all the other
passengers to the Sunj beach. If not, you just walk
along the shore until you see a sign to the left.
There will be a walk of about 3km through a pine
forrest. You can also follow the "road", but it
will be a little bit longer. The foot path is not
suitable for disabeled persons.

When you see the sea, you soon arrive to "the
water hole" for the first beer. There are two
bars at the beach serving lunch. |
There
are no cars on Lopud. Except for this home made
thing. |

The
naturist part is separated by a wooden construction
in the middle of the beach. Slunj beach is a true
paradise for the children. There were lots of children
on both sides of the barrier. And no people looking.
Some people took a dressed walk along the beach.
Many returned back without...
There are sunchairs to hire. Price? I don't know
because there was nobody there that day to collect
any fee. There is only one boat returning from Lopud
back to Dubrovnik in the evening. Check with Jadrolinja
again, but it was perfect to start the walking back
when the shadow covers the whole beach. And then
we had time for a light meal in the "town".
