Umag naturist guide (part of Croatia Naturally web site)

Katoro (near Umag, Istra)
(sent on August 7, 2002)

Submitted by: Petr, Russia

Name of the beach: Katoro
Location of the beach: Katoro, near Umag
How to get there: Elecrtic train from Umag, car, walking, whatever - next beach from Umag after the textile Sol Polynesia beach

Facilities at the beach
Shower Toilete Restaurant Bar Water sports Sports Water
yes yes yes yes n/a yes n/a

Mark: 4 (1-lowest, 5-highest)

Description:
Quite a nice place. The beach is partly rocky and partly concrete. There is an FKK buffet and the food is OK and the waiters are nice people.
The sea is quite shallow and if you want to swim you should take a 5 minute walk first :). This is not that bad if you go to the water on the left side of the beach (closer to Umag).
The entrance is supposed to cost 20 kn (about USD $3) but there is a hole in the fence that separates the beach from the Sol Polynesia textile beach. Be aware of the Croatian guy with "eminem hair style", if he finds you you'll have to pay :).
The water is kind of dirty. There are few younger couples (Italians, Russians and Croatians) and many older Germans.
In general the beach is OK, don't think there is a choice in Umag area anyway.

Thanks
Petr for this report.
